I come from a long line of strong Hispanic women (& men) who have created so many hair stories & traditions throughout my lifetime that I continue to remember today. In 1970, my grandparents fled from Cuba and came to Miami to do what they knew best, hair! Most of my childhood was spent in their beauty salon, while my parents went off to work. I clearly remember experimenting & and learning so much at a young age about hair. I guess you can say that's when it all started for me...

My hair story is short from boring....I've been blonde, brunette, red, & even had pink streaks at one point (yes, I've had my tacky stages too). I've never been scared to take risks with my hair and those who know me would definitely be a witness to that! Some days I wake up and I want long luscious hair, meanwhile on some other days I just want to sport the chic bob (I'm so erratic when it comes to my hair!)

Today I have teamed up with Latina Bloggers Connect & one of my favorite brands when it comes to hair, Dove. With Dove's Regenerative Nourishment hair care line, people such as myself never have to worry about damaged hair again! From personal experience, my hair has definitely suffered at some points because of all the color processing I've put it through in the past. Finding products that leave my hair perfectly nourished & with no visibility of damage is gold to me! By the way, these products are infused with red algae + keratin nutricomplex.

I've been using the Regenerative shampoo, conditioner, & serum-in oil for a couple weeks now, and I've loved the noticeable results. The shampoo replenishes nutrients & reinforces my hair, meanwhile the conditioner instantly smooth's out and repairs the internal structure of my hair strands (TIP: I like to leave the conditioner on for 3-5 min for optimal results)

Below I have created a hair tutorial using the new Dove products on one of my everyday go to looks: "the woman bun" (as I like to call it). I love this look because it's so chic, but quick & easy to accomplish. I've also linked all the products used above.

TUTORIAL:

  • Before doing anything I like to apply (about 3 pumps) of the serum-in oil to my already washed & blow dried hair. This helps me bring shine to my hair & protect it from the heat before application. I then take my 1'in curling iron and softly create effortless waves (I like to part my hair into sections for this, it makes it easier).

  • After I finish using the curling iron, I part a little section (at the crown) portion of my hair and secure it with a small band (TIP: for this look, these hair bands are the best because they are not very visible & they're thin). I then twist that section to create a bun, and I try to make it as effortless looking as possible (it doesn't have to be perfect looking). I secure it with some bobby pins & a touch of hair spray to tame the fly away's & baby hairs.
  • For the last step (this is just an extra touch I like doing, but it's not necessary) I take a teasing brush, and tease certain sections of my hair (TIP: doing this will create volume & also give it that messy look)

I hope you liked the finished look! My hair has definitely evolved along with my style. Today, I encourage you to take risks with your hair, & totally go for that hair transformation you've been wanting to do.

Until next post,

Xo

Petite Chic Whites

| OUTFIT DETAILS |
Dress c/o Banana Republic (also available in blue) | Metallic Flats: Banana Republic (on sale) (I love these too!)

Photography: Christine Michelle

Happy Friday! Today I have teamed up with Banana Republic to bring you this chic but feminine look. I think those words describe the aesthetic to my daily style (I like to mix a little of both). This look reminded me of a Chanel inspired piece since it has the tweed detailing all over & it has a fit and flare cut to the bottom of it.

I was really happy when the team over at BR reached out because we wanted to work on a "petite" look from their petites collection, which is essentially perfect for any 5'1 girl like myself! I often struggle to find clothing that has the correct fit to them (I'm SO OCD about right fitting clothing). Half - if not most of the time, I need my outfits altered....So with stores such as Banana Republic that provide their petite customers with that advantage, it just makes everything that much easier for us. Since I am very tiny in height I would ususally never pair any kind of dress with flats, but I really wanted to embrace my petite side & add an edgy flair with these metallic babes (which are on mega sale! I've linked them above)

Until next post,

Xo

| OUTFIT DETAILS |
Overalls: Maruchi (love these & these) | Top: Forever 21 (Similar Here)  | Sneakers: Adidas Superstars | Arm party c/o Taudrey ("The Kelly Bracelet") ("Florida Beaded Bracelet")

Photography: Christine Michelle

So, with this post I sadly conclude all the series of previous posts that were shot in Los Angeles. LA has such amazing backdrops I will never get tired of seeing, they are made specifically for photos it seems!

Anyways, It's been a little while since I last styled overalls on the blog. When I first saw these, I went totally crazy because it reminded me of the ones my mom would dress me in when I was younger (in the 90's) because of all the feminine details it has.

With today's outfit post I also wanted to do something a little different & I think it'll allow you to get to know me better on a personal basis! My beautiful photographer Christine actually motivated me to do this as she herself a couple weeks back wrote her own post on this particular subject (you can read it here-it's awesome!). Sometimes or (a lot of times) in life we find ourselves without any inspiration and that was truly my case a couple months back. I found my self in a slump, and even when it came to blogging I was putting off a lot of work aside for the fact that I started to question everything. So crazy to think, as I consider myself a creative individual. I honestly took a lot of time to re-evulate what and who I was as a person and what were the things that inspired me in my daily life.

These are the six things I came up with:

1. God // I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the passion & talent he instilled on me to do what I do everyday and what I like to call blogging. Isaiah 41:10 "Do not fear, for I am with you" is a verse I have always trusted in especially in times where I feel alone & uninspired.

2. People // Not just anyone for this matter....But the close people or maybe even THE person who have (has) supported you unconditionally no matter the situation or how you're feeling. In this case, my parents. I find the most motivation to get up & get work done when they display "tough love" on me and when they push me off my boundaries. Some others may see potential in you, that maybe you don't necessarily see for yourself. Also, this may be an obvious fact but the people you chose to surround yourself with definitely make a huge difference. I say this from previous experience, but never be in any kind of relationship where he/she does not support or care about your craft.

3. Travel // During this time that I was feeling questionable & uninspired happened to be during the recent trip I took out to LA. Leaving Miami for a bit, and getting to work in a different enviorment and with different people defnitley helped. I was able to regenerate, reinvent myself, and gather new ideas.

4. Self Competition // Yes, competition does inspire me. But, competition within myself. I always want to compete with the person I was yesterday. Be a better version of yourself everyday!

5. Failed partnerships // This really drives me forward. As everyone has experienced a failure of some sort in their past, that should only move you to get up, learn about it, and move on to bigger things. Sometimes these mistakes or "failures" are provoked by others you may even work closely with, but it's important to distinguish whether they are beneficial to you or not.

6. You // My readers & continuous followers have been the back bone to all of this! You all inspire me everyday to provide and come up with content and to most importantly push my own boundaries.

Until next post,

Xo

The Tropical Set-up

| OUTFIT DETAILS |
Top: Forever 21| Skirt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Just Fab | Sunnies c/o Zero UV ($10!)

Photography: Christine Michelle

"Her name was Lola, she was a show girl at the Copacabana....."  Don't mind me, but that song was stuck in my head while shooting this look...The vibe totally reminded me of being in Havana. Today's post backdrop & oh so tropical scenery was brought to you by the FreeHand Miami Hotel (one of the trendiest spots here in Miami that you can easily catch me at anytime).

So a little back story on this outfit, I was originally supposed to take this on my recent California trip, but sadly it did not make it on time. I'm actually really glad it arrived late even though it caused me to stress, but I would have not styled it in this way like I did here. It's been way to hot in Miami these days, and it totally feels like summer and not spring 99.9% of the time. With that said...It was only best I wore something fresh and crisp. I love anything with bell sleeves, and it's honestly really hard to find something with the right type of bell sleeve. On most occasions it just ends up looking way over exaggerated (in my opinion).  This two piece set was under $50, by the way. So, if you're heading to a music festival such as Coachella....This would be the perfect occasion to wear it too!

If you don't have any plans this upcoming Saturday (the 16th) I'd love to meet you at Freehand Miami from 4-8pm as I host Trend Walk (pool party, local vendors, food, drinks, & music). Admission is free, just bring your friends, positive vibes, & don't forget to mention my name at the entrance. See you there!

If you plan to attend:
Freehand Miami (4-8pm)
2727 Indian Creek Dr, Miami Beach

Nevermind

| OUTFIT DETAILS |
Catsuit c/o Knowstyle | Bomber Jacket c/o Knowstyle (love this one too) | Choker c/o Goth Gurl Shop | Lipstick c/o Nevermind Cosmetics "I can't even"

Photography: GenStreetStyle

It's one sassy Monday and I can't get over this look. Besides todays outfit post, I also bring along a very special interview with one of my new favorite beauty brands, Nevermind Cosmetics! See below for a sneak peek of my interview. For a the full look please see link below.

Since the catsuit trend or so called "onesie" made its mark, I had been dying to find one that I liked. I was a little skeptical at first, because there's so many ways this type of look could go wrong. I paired it up with one of my favorite spring staples, the bomber jacket. I think adding a detail like this to a catsuit is essential because it balances it out perfectly.

Major thank you to the creators (Marivette & Vanessa) and girl bosses of Nevermind Cosmetics for this opportunity. Hard working girls like you are why we have girl crushes!

How did you get into makeup? What do you love most about it?

P: I’ve always been into makeup (since I could remember) but I really started experimenting with it at 15. To me, makeup & the process of it is a form of art. Just like being a hairdresser, being a makeup artist takes real talent.

What makeup product(s) can you like NOT live without?

P: This is really hard! I’d have to say; concealer, Anastasia brow dip, & mascara!

What beauty tip do you super swear by?

P: Contouring…It's magical! And I also, live and breathe by false lashes. My go to’s are the Ardell Demi Wispies!

Who are your favorite Instagram/YouTube beauty queens to follow?

P: Dulce Candy (I met her & we became friends instantly & we still keep in contact till this day). Dulce was the first major YouTube beauty guru I felt inspired by. I also love Nicole Guerrerio & Carli Bybel.

Do you think fashion and beauty go hand in hand?

P: Most definitely. Just like I said earlier, beauty is an art & I truly believe fashion is too. Many people have a talent in both & those are the lucky ones! Many people think of beauty & fashion as materialistic, but to me it’s one of my favorite ways to express myself.

Who is your beauty icon?

P: Jennifer Lopez...She does NO wrong. I mean, c’mon, who doesn’t want that glowy skin?!

Two-piece dreaming

| OUTFIT DETAILS |
Bathing suit c/o Luli Fama | Hat: Forever 21(Similar here) | Choker necklace c/o Taudrey | Bronze cream c/o Beauty For Real

Photography: Christine Michelle

It's officially 95' degrees in Miami, and I'm already dreaming of the summer days ahead. If there is one bathing suit brand that I totally go head over heels for it would have to be Luli Fama. Being a Latina, I have all aspects of a curvy body so I like to purchase swimsuits that will compliment my curves! Luli Fama definitely caters her swimsuit designs for every type of body. Thanks to Luli, I was also sent an amazing one piece coral colored suit that I cannot wait to show you all, but I'm keeping that baby for the summer time.

A lot of you always ask what type of style suit I prefer.....To be honest, I never reserve myself to one specific kind. I can wear a one piece one day, and a bikini on the next. Although the one pieces are a total trend for the summer, society still has the stereotypical view of them. Just because you choose to not wear a bikini, doesn't mean you're insecure about your body type or you're trying to hide something. If you're wondering, I love using my Beauty For Real Total Glo cream for a beautiful summer glow (it works miracles) Ladies, embrace what you love, dress to your body type, & embrace it!
