Lets get FIT

So, it's obviously the start of a new year and most of us make it a resolution to either lose weight, or start living a healthier lifestyle. Today I have teamed up with GAP to introduce to you their new workout line, "GAP Fit" and to share with you some of my tips & tricks to living a healthier lifestyle. All these are my own opinion, and just routines and lifestyle changes that have worked and still work for me.

I was a ballet dancer all my life up until senior year of high school. Unfortunately, college life kicked in and I had little to no time to keep dancing. It was a tough decision I made, but I knew if I left ballet (my only source of exercise) I had to promise myself I would retain a healthy lifestyle, and so I did. Below I have listed some everyday things I like to do to keep my mind and body healthy (yes, I like to keep my mind healthy too!)

1. Get a good rest - I know it's hard sometimes, but getting at least 9 hours of sleep every night can really make a difference.

2. Drink lots of water - I'm the first to admit that I'm really bad on drinking at least 8 glasses a day, but when I do remember, it's definitely beneficial.

3. Right meal choices - Throughout the week I attend to healthy meals, and I like to treat myself to at least 2 cheat meals on the weekend. I also don't eat meat, so I improvise by eating other sources like fish.

4. Take time for yourself - I do this every morning. I take some time to reflect and breathe. During this time, I like to pray. You can even do this in the car! Turn off that radio, and concentrate on you for at least a few minutes. Positive thoughts throughout your day can really switch up your mood.

5. Snack - I like to snack up to 3 times a day on fruits, granola, or even on homemade smoothies! This keeps me full until its time to eat a meal.

6. Portion control - Yes, its true... I still eat off kid meals! (when possible). Kid meals tend to be way smaller portions. The more you train your body to eat small, the more you will get used to it.

7. Exercise - take at least 30 min out of your schedule to work out. Some of my "at home" favorites are jump roping, or some simple ab workouts. I love to attend the Vixen Workout religiously when I can. Dancing is a great form of cardio, you burn calories while having fun and time passes by super fast! (P.S) I really don't like gyms... My adhd kicks in whenever I attend one, and I honestly cannot workout with a million other people. But hey, that's just me.
