You're wearing what?

"Come dressed casual, you don't always have to go everywhere 'dressed up' and in heels". Sound familiar girls? Well, if you're anything like me...This is a phrase we've been told quite often and one that could be somewhat offending, yes...offending.

\With recent & past experience, someone out there will always try to block your shine with their shadow (whether it'd be a girl a or even a guy). So ladies this is for you, grab your bff and listen in.

Today's post is quite different to any others I've done in the past. I wanted to be vulnerable and share a past struggle. When I first started my blog, I wanted it to be a source of inspiration and a piece of my life where I could share my tips in fashion, beauty, & even lifestyle. But beyond all, I wanted The Fashion Muse to be a source of empowerment for girls and woman everywhere. God only knows how much I always look up to certain bloggers and fashion icons, and only hoping that one day I'd be the same outlet for any other woman. But, funny enough within the last year I've learned a lot about myself and quite often finding myself down and lacking that inspiration. Why? I asked. Well maybe because I was settling for everyone's point of view. We as a whole live in a society where going to school rocking the 'just rolled out of bed' look is acceptable, where going to a ballet performance or broadway show in flip-flops & ripped jeans is acceptable, where not caring how you look in front of your boyfriend or significant other is acceptable, and where many girls no longer value poise or self assurance. What ever happened to taking forever to get ready and looking nice before a first date?  or what happen to picking out the perfect outfit the night before starting your first job? First impressions are everything! Don't lose your value over what todays world may label you as.  I'm only 21, but I've come to the point in my life where my motto is "If I want to wear Louboutins to go grocery shopping I will" and being 'too overdressed' is not a saying to live by. Girls, don't let any guy or girl dull your sparkle, we were made fabulous for a reason (oh, and so were clothes and shoes). Don't settle or dress for less because you're afraid of what others may think or say.

So in all honesty and on a personal aspect, I was recently with a guy who stated to me "Come dressed casual, you don't always have to go everywhere 'dressed up' and in heels. You don't have to try so hard".  Guys: were not trying hard. Some of us girls, were brought up to always walk with confidence in a hot pair of heels, and leave an impression everywhere we go. And, girls: if a guy can't respect and love the way you treat yourself and dress yourself, then go out and buy your self that outfit you've been wanting, and don't cry over it! (Don't ruin your mascara). Love yourself, and know your worth.
